Jack Chambers - Australia's Favorite Dancer

I am in New York, and am very sure that I want to live in this city! I have been here about 7 days now, and still haven’t seen most likely half of what this city has to offer. I am ticking off my list of Broadway shows, having seen ‘13’, ‘Spring Awakening’ and ‘Hairspray’ - which I got to go backstage and meet the cast, which was great!! I am seeing ‘Legally Blonde’ next week, and am in the process of getting tickets to see ‘Wicked‘, I have already seen it, but I am here with my parents and sister and they haven’t seen it yet. I still have plenty more to see, so I better start cracking.

Since I am sponsored by Capezio I thought I would visit the store which is located in Times Square. Now what was very interesting is, being overseas I didn’t think anyone would recognise me, and it has been that way so far, so when it does happen it’s a real shock. When I entered the store, this Australian lady noticed me and said would I mind coming to meet some of the young Australian dancers who are here in the shop, and I said yeah sure…and here I am expecting to see just 3 or 4 girls. She calls out to everyone, ‘look who I found‘, and honestly, just about everyone in the shop turned around and then screamed and ran towards me. There was definitely more than just a couple of girls, I will say at least 20!! I went all red in the face and my heart started pounding, it was just very unexpected. I swear all of the New Yorkers were thinking what the hell, who’s this guy!!! So that was overwhelming, but they were all very nice!!

I had a meeting with an talent agency here in New York which was great, they seem very good, but I think I will still keep searching just to make sure I go on board with an agency that can really help me. So no signing contracts yet!!! I am very excited about the Sunday that is coming up, as I am going with a real estate agent to look at some apartments that they are suggesting for me. I cant wait!! Will be attending some classes at Broadway Dance Centre which will be fun, and might be attending some singing and acting classes while I’m here, just to really experience the industry here in New York - and of course to network!! I am not sure what else to talk about, but I hope everyone is well back in Australia, am looking forward to coming home.
